This Philippino man was cooking up beef tips on sticks to celebrate diversity at a street fair in Blacksburg, Virginia. And they were delicious.

Two scantily clad women danging with large swords to celebrate diversity in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Again, I love the juxtaposition of the New York Yankees cap and the Palestinian flag. Aaaaaah, diversity.

I particularly liked this photo because of the juxtaposition of the Iranian and Israeli flag being waved by an Iranian. This photo was used by Virginia Tech in a slideshow for the international day, fair, and parade. However, it's unfortunate that the woman in the front, who is holding the flags for Israel and Iran, was subsequently hassled. Ultimately she asked that we take this particular photo down from Virginia Tech's website, and we complied.

I took this photo for Virginia Tech to appear on the cover of something and it got chosen for the 2006-2007 phone book! And then it got used in some other random places, too. It took two days to get the shot. (I got up too late the first day.) At 5:30am I headed over to Pritchard Hall and went up to the 7th floor study lounge and shot photos out the unscreened and open window. For this shot I used a polarizer, a Cokin 2A neutral density gradient filter and a Cokin two-stop sunset filter. If only more lights had been on in the dorms.

This photo -- shot entirely by accident -- isn't entirely in focus on the ball, but it's wonderful.

This sign post on the saddle ridge by the peak of Mount Rogers -- the highest mountain in the commonwealth of Virginia -- points in the direction of the horse trail that goes across this area.

We got up at 2am and hiked into the forest (and woke some campers up) to get the sun rising over McAfee's knob. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as well as I wanted. I really should have had some sort of gradient filter installed.

This waterfall is located just off the Appalachian Trail right by where those two people were murdered in 1981, outside of Pearisburg, VA. It's actually a fun area to spend some time. However, the people you meet there are literally crazy.
